BURGLARS who smashed into two supermarkets and stole cigarettes are still being hunted by police.

Five men were seen throwing items into the boot of a black Audi which is thought to have been stolen, at Tesco Express in Manchester Court, High Street, Moreton.

It is not clear how the thieves broke into the shop at 3.30am on Sunday June 25.

A witness claims that he saw suspects throwing bricks and slate dropped near the scene may have been used in the break-in.

There were further claims that a 'bang' was heard at that time.

After the burglary the car was driven off up the High Street.

On the same night, shopping trolleys from the Tesco car park at Priory Road industrial estate, Tetbury, were used to smash the front door of the supermarket.

This burglary happened at 1.40am and police believe that the two raids are linked.
