A COTSWOLD school has been given a coveted award recognising its commitment to sport.
St James & Ebrington, which is split over two sites in Chipping Campden and Ebrington, has received the School Games Silver Awards, after more than nine thousand school from across the country applied.
In order to be eligible for the award school need to meet ambitious criteria, including that at least 35 per cent of pupils are involved with extra curricular opportunities such as school clubs, matches and competitions.
The school leads, manages and officiates school games activities with other local primary schools, and among the sports offered to pupils are gymnastics, floorball, football, netball and tennis.
The school’s headteacher, Joanna Jonson, said: ‘We are thrilled to have won this award and to have our school’s efforts acknowledged in such a great way.
"I am very proud of the pupils and staff, whose enthusiasm for sport means that we can continue to grow this important aspect of our extra-curricular programme’
