STAFF at a Cotswold charity shop, which has helped raise thousands for an animal charity over the years, have been celebrating a milestone.

To celebrate the Dog Trust's Shipston charity shop 10th birthday a party was held with some of the staff who helped originally launch the shop invited back.

Since opening in 2006 charity shop staff estimate more than 400,000 people have stepped through the doors, with 180,000 items including clothing, bric-a-brac and books sold to raise £600,000 to help the homeless hounds under the care of the charity.

Gemma Borkowy, retail area manager for Dogs Trust, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who has made the last decade such a success.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community who not only give generously but make each and every day such a pleasure.”

“We simply couldn’t run this shop without the dedication of our volunteers - but we are always looking for more."

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should call the shop on 01608 666 958 or visit the shop Market Place, Shipston-on-Stour.
