WORLD famous rock star Bryan Adams will headline the last Cornbury Festival next year - ensuring it goes out with a bang.

The multi-platinum selling artist, famed for hits including 'Summer of 69', will perform on Saturday, July 8 as part of the three-day extravaganza at Tew Park, near Chipping Norton.

The Canadian-born singer has achieved international success with a string of multi-million selling albums, while in the UK he holds the record for the longest consecutive Number 1 with 'Everything I Do'.

Hugh Phillimore, director of the long-running festival, said: "Ever since I saw an awesome performance at Wembley way back, I’ve been trying to bag a show with Bryan – pestering him for over 20 years.

"We’re all very excited that he has agreed to join us for our finale. It will definitely be worth the wait."

It was recently announced next year's festival - the 14th - will be the last, and eager music fans have already snapped up earlybird tickets.

Mr Phillimore said: "We've had a fantastic run over the last 13 years and are very proud of the lovely event we've created.

"We've hosted a marvellous annual party for our loyal audience – the odd royal, multi-generational families, aristocracy, Prime Ministers, film stars, farmers, rockers, and ladies who make exceedingly good cakes.

"We have found ourselves in the centre of a wonderful community and are proud that we’ve been able to benefit many local causes over the years. Join us for what’s going to be one hell of a farewell party."

Saturday day tickets, along with weekend tickets, will be available in all formats from 9am today (Thursday, December 1).

Nicknamed 'Poshstock', Cornbury, has featured many brilliant performers over the last 13 years including Joe Cocker, Amy Winehouse, Robert Plant, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Blondie, Bryan Ferry and Georgie Fame.
