A COTSWOLD chef will compete in tonight's Masterchef: The Professionals quarter final.

Wayne Sullivan, the head chef at The Old Stocks Inn, based in Stow-on-the-Wold fought his way through the heats last night.

The quarter final, which airs on BBC Two at 8pm sees the six chefs put their own spin on a steak and kidney pie.

The four that impress the most will then progress to cook a two course meal for restaurant critics William Sitwell, Jay Rayner and Tracey MacLeod.

The chefs will cook a main and a desert in just one hour and 15 minutes.

The chef progressed last night as he managed to impressed judges Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing as well as Masterchef stalwart Gregg Wallace.

He battled against five other chefs, with three going home and two joining him in the quarter final.

If he manages to progress tonight, he will continue into knockout week.

Only the three most talented chefs will make it to the knockout week.
