CELEBRATIONS were in order for the 100th birthday of a "very sociable" World War Two veteran.

Ken Frostick, who lived in Shipston for many years, enjoyed not one, but three birthday parties with friends, family and former neighbours.

The centenarian - who now lives at Galanos House Royal British Legion Care Home in Southam - turned 100 on Tuesday, November 15.

He celebrated with former neighbours, his son Ian and daughter-in-law Jill, in Shipston on Saturday, November 19.

"He is very sociable, he likes people and he likes to talk to people," said his son Ian, aged 65.

Born in Kent during 1916, Mr Frostick served during the Second World War and was posted around Europe in his communications role.

He spent time in Denmark and Holland, alongside writing and sending Morse code messages and erecting telecommunications masts. He spent time in Paris shortly after the Allies liberated the city from the control of Nazi Germany.

It was during the war he met his future wife, Edna, while on leave in Skegness. The couple married shortly after the war ended and were together for 63 years, before Mrs Frostick died in 2010.

Throughout his life, the former electronics salesman loved to learn languages and could speak French fluently.

His son said: "He loves languages, every time he went anywhere he always attempted to learn a bit of the local language. He liked meeting people."

Mr Frostick has one son and two grandchildren.
