THERE was something to keep everyone amused in the City Library, during a Family Learning Festival in Bradford's City Park.

Youngsters, some who had also taken along their grandparents, enjoyed reading, games, drawing and making messy hand prints on Saturday.

Gifted artists were on hand to carry out the popular facepainting while the tables were packed with craft items for the children to make with their parents.

There was also Bookstart Bear to make friends with and to show the importance of books and reading.

The Family Learning Festival and the Born in Bradford project have been joining forces to offer a wide variety of things to do in the city as part of active learning. Many of the youngsters were reluctant to leave.

The event is a joint partnership between Bradford Council, Bradford Libraries, the National Media Museum, and others and has been running for two weeks.

It has been an important date in the city's calendar for the past nine years and an ideal way to bring families together in a fun and safe environment

This year theme was "All About Me" and involved encouraging children to paint self portraits.
