AN Eccleshill man has posted a £500 reward for the safe return of his cat which escaped the family home on Saturday.

The tabby female, named Tigger, and thought to be between five and six years old, is believed to have sneaked out of the house in Moorside Avenue the day after a burglar alarm system was fitted.

"Cats used to come into Wrose Quarry when I was working there and I used to feed a couple them. One day a female cat turned up with a family. I began to look after the kittens too and managed to get them rehomed. Then another cat came along, which I called Tigger, and she had a family too. When I left the quarry I look the three home.

Tigger is unusually marked, particularly the markings on her forehead.

"I've put up around 200 posters around the village so far and will be putting more on lampposts. I've even been out and bought a new printer so I can have laminated copies. To me she's worth the £500 reward."
