Hook Norton Brewery is welcoming two new four-legged members of staff to its team.

Shire horses Winston, aged ten, and Roger, eight, will be working alongside the existing pair of Major and Nelson to deliver the brewery's beer to pubs in and around the town.

The shires deliver Hooky beer on Thursdays and Fridays, weather permitting, and they will be out around Hook Norton on the first Saturday of every month.

The team will also be venturing further afield to attend various game fairs, country shows and beer festivals.

Shire horses have been an integral part of the brewery's life since it was founded in 1849, and for many years were the reliable backbone of its delivery system.

The shire horses will be looked after by long-serving drayman, Roger Hughes along with new groom Elizabeth Csak and will make their home in the brewery stables.

With the founder’s great-great-grandson, James Clarke, still at the helm, Hook Norton continues to brew a wide range of award-winning ales.
