TALENTED youngsters took to the stage to bring Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet to life.

After weeks of rehearsals, 85 children from Dormer House School in Moreton staged the play in two sell-out performances at Chipping Norton Theatre.

Dormer House drama teacher, Emily Scates, said: "The children embraced the Shakespearean language with great passion and determination.

"They worked exceptionally hard to create a colourful and vibrant interpretation of this classic Shakespeare tale and after a technical and dress rehearsal, they invited family, friends and the local community to see them perform.

"It was magnificent to watch the excitement on the children’s faces as the curtain rose and the show unfolded.

"I am so proud of our children and the hard work and enthusiasm they have dedicated to our end of year production.”

A framed piece of every child's artwork was displayed in the theatre gallery, which attracted praise from visitors.

Jo Higgins, director of Chipping Norton youth theatre, said: “Very well done, what a spectacle. So colourful and vibrant but thoughtful when required. As always there were some great performances from some of the cast.”
