A MUSEUM has awarded a bursary to two talented students at a Cotswolds school to help promote their future in the arts world.

Court Barn Museum has awarded the bursary to two students at Chipping Campden School so they can both pursue their chosen path.

The museum received funding from a private donor earlier this year and it was decided to give this money to help a student on their career path in the arts.

The bursary is considered integral to the museum’s aim to promote craft and design and provides an opportunity for emerging artists to realise their full potential.

The award ceremony took place at the school on Thursday 23 June as part of the AS and A-level Art exhibition 'Double Exposure' and was presented by Peter Taylor, chairman of the trustees of the Guild of Handicraft and Sarah McCormick Healy, curator at Court Barn Museum.

Due to the exceptional high standards they decided to present two awards.

The major award went to Anna Clegg, who hopes to study a foundation diploma at Kingston University, and the minor award went to Poppy Crew, who would like to take an arts foundation course at Oxford Brookes.

The curator, Sarah McCormick Healy, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to help them at the start of their careers, especially when they are still exploring which area they would like to pursue, it could be art, jewellery, graphic design, metalwork.

"There are so many options. The money can be used towards material costs, or visiting museums and galleries around the world to draw inspiration.

"We have enjoyed working with the school and we hope that we will be able to show some of their work at the museum next summer.”
