BRITAIN's 'best known farmer' and television presenter Adam Henson is to pay a visit to Broadway.

Blandford Books of Broadway celebrate 20 years in business by hosting an evening with Adam Henson.

He will talk about his new memoir “Like Farmer, Like Son”.

Adam is a presenter on Countryfile, Lambing Live and Secret Britain, and also runs the very successful Cotswold Farm Park.

He said: "People say “Like father, like son”, and the story of my life has mirrored my father’s to a quite uncanny degree.

"Right from when I was a little boy, he was my rock; my mentor; my hero.

"It is no exaggeration to say that he taught me virtually everything I know about both country life and television. "Without him, I certainly would not be doing what I am today."

Agriculture and show business may appear to be unlikely bedfellows, but for Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, as for his father, Joe, who passed away in the autumn of 2015, they are the twin poles that have defined his life.

His father overcame a serious stammer to become a regular broadcaster on country matters.

Alongside his TV outings, by sheer grit and determination, and a little bit of luck thrown in, he became the saviour of Britain's Rare Breeds and opened the world's first Farm Park.

Here, for the first time, Adam reveals the family traits, childhood experiences and farming wisdom which have made him the man he is today.

As he trawls the family archive and discovers his own bloodline, Adam learns to understand and appreciate the famous grandfather he never knew and pays tribute to the wonderful father he has so recently lost.

This will be a very personal evening with Adam Henson which is to held at the Lifford Hall, Broadway on Wednesday, June 22 between 7pm and 9pm.

The tickets are on sale at £15 which will include a celebratory drink and a signed copy of “Like Farmer Like Son”.
