RESIDENTS at Oaktree Mews Care Home, in Moreton, were thrilled when youngsters from Dormer House School called in to sing to them and present them with their latest artwork.

The Year 1 children visited the home to celebrate National Dementia Week and spent the morning presenting the residents with decorated bunting flags they had made to adorn the care home. They were brightly coloured and featured soft cotton wool balls to complement the children's sensory theme.

The children held up their artwork, sang songs and recited a collection of short poems.

It was also a good opportunity to share tales. Residents shared stories of their own children having fun at bath time while the Dormer children shared their tales of fun at their weekly swimming lessons with the school.

Abbie Cooke, artist-in-residence at Dormer House, who accompanied the children, said: "National Dementia Week is a wonderful opportunity to promote wellbeing for the young and old through the arts and education. The Dormer children loved giving their colourful artworks to the residents."
