MICKLETON Gardening Club hosted the annual Inter-Village Gardening Quiz during its March meeting and welcomed teams and their supporters from Ebrington and District, Bretforton, Bidford-on-Avon and District and Blockley and District gardening clubs. They were welcomed to the King George’s Hall by Mickleton Gardening Club chairman, Jonathan Collins.

Presiding as quizmaster for the evening, Howard Drury made the evening entertaining for the team participants and the audience. Mr Drury, a highly renowned horticulturalist and broadcaster, set a variety of questions related to various aspects of gardening and horticulture, including some photographic and music challenges. These were thoughtfully and helpfully interspersed with numerous gardening tips and advice throughout the evening.

All teams scored well, but the final winner was Mickleton Gardening Club, represented by Peggy Atherton, Gill Thomas and Susan Ward, with Blockley and District Horticultural Society coming a close second. The Sally Ravenhall Shield was presented to the Mickleton team, with free Thompson and Morgan seeds being offered, courtesy of Mr Drury, for all teams and their supporters.
