IT was a dream come true for children at Dormer House School in Moreton-in-Marsh as they became firefighters for the day.

Excited nursery and lower school pupils donned yellow helmets and protective jackets and sprayed water from a fire hose during the special visit from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

They even got to sit in the fire engine cabin where the on-call fire crew usually sit to cap off a memorable interactive experience.

Teacher Kelly Hobkirk said: "Thank you to Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service for visiting our school.

"Many memories have been made and much learning was accomplished."

The event was also used to help year one pupils reinforce their knowledge of the Great Fire of London.
