BREWERS at Hook Norton Brewery have started a brewing run of single variety hopped beers.

These are beers that are bittered with just one variety of hops, rather than the more usual practice of balancing the flavours by using several.

Brewing single hopped beers is a great way to educate and enlighten the beer-drinking public about the different varieties of hops that are now available, and the effects they have on both aroma and flavour

The first brew will use Sovereign Hops, with aromas described as floral, grassy and herbal with a hint of mint flavours.

The brewery plan to produce a different variety each week from now up until Christmas using a range of hops from both the UK and overseas.

The beers will be available on the bar at the brewery and also at Hook Norton's 38 pubs across Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire. Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
