THE latest in eco-friendly technology has been used to upgrade a swimming pool in Chipping Norton.
Improvements have been made and new technology added to the water treatment system at Chipping Norton Leisure Centre’s pool while essential maintenance was carried out.
New medium-rate filters have been installed with recycled glass filter media that will increase the turnover of pool water and improve its quality.
The pool pumps have also been fitted with variable speed control devices which increase the sustainability of the equipment and control energy consumption.
Cllr James Mills, Cabinet Member for Leisure said: “As regular maintenance had to be done it was a good opportunity to reduce the pool’s energy consumption, improve its water quality and help make using the pool a better experience for residents.”
Chipping Norton Leisure Centre hosts one of four swimming pools in West Oxfordshire owned by the district council and run on its behalf by GLL, a not-for-profit trust. The pool improvements work, costing £35,000, was funded by the council.
The work was carried during the last two weeks of August, whilst the open-air lido was open in the town and before regular swimming classes were fully attended at the start of the school term.
