BUSINESSES in the Cotswolds are being helped to encourage staff to find healthier and more environmentally-friendly ways to travel to and from work.

Firms across Gloucestershire are being offered expert support through the county council’s Thinktravel scheme.

Staff at businesses participating in the Department of Transport-funded scheme are also given information on cycle, walking and bus routes and are offered incentives such as pedometers and puncture repair kits.

Gloucestershire County Council’s cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure Cllr Will Windsor-Clive said: “Saving money and improving health and mental wellbeing are just some of the benefits of greener travel.

“For business owners it can solve parking issues and reduce congestion.

“I encourage more local businesses to take up this offer of advice and support.”

Businesses have until February next year to apply for support.
