CHILDREN at Temple Guiting School learned the value of fresh drinking water through a fundraising event for WaterAid.

Class 2 pupils aged six to eight years raised £580 by walking four long miles through Guiting woods to raise money for the charity they have been learning about.

They stopped at the river on the way, then carried a large bottle of water each all the way back to school.

Class teacher Emily Chester said: "I was so proud of all the children as they have really taken on board the importance of fresh water and how it is not easily accessible for many people in developing countries. The children, having learnt about the charity and its work in class were so interested that as well as bringing in pocket money, they decided to do the sponsored walk. It has formed a lot of their topic work for this term."
