A CRUISE with dinner on the Countess of Evesham is Chipping Campden and District Rotary Club president's farewell event when Stuart Potter will take over at the helm from Adrian Grimes on July 2

The past year has seen an interesting programme of events and talks, combined with considerable success in fundraising for various good causes: local charities, assistance for young people with educational projects and happenings further afield not least the Nepal Disaster, which overshadowed the 25th Anniversary Dinner at the end of April.

News was soon received from a Rotary district in Nepal, reporting the devastation in the Kathmandu Valley and around the country. One Rotary Club was holding a fellowship meeting in a hotel at the time of the quake.

Their disaster relief committee appealed for help with immediate relief. With Government help they planned to build 1000 low cost homes in the rural areas. But, they asked for short term help from Rotary around the world with shelter, food and safe drinking water.

Chipping Campden Rotary immediately sent two shelter boxes worth £1200 and the club organised a local appeal to provide further aid by dropping leaflets to houses around the town and local villages, requesting donations. Information about various collection points is included in the leaflet, so that donors can conveniently leave their contributions at various locations in the town. Contributions are still being received.

The Rotary club meets for a weekly dinner each Thursday and is open to men and women.
