KINGHAM Hill School’s annual choir competition for local prep and primary schools was hosted in the school chapel with groups determined to win the honour of best choir and take home the generous prize money of £400 and £200 for their music department.

Each choir performed two contrasting pieces in either up to Year 6 or up to Year 8 category.

The standard on the day was remarkable and a credit to the children, choir leaders and schools involved.

Kingham Hill’s Gospel Choir filled the time as the judges adjudicated. The head judge and Kingham Hill’s Head of Music Dan Chambers, offered feedback to all choirs and then headmaster Nick Seward presented the cheques to Windrush Valley School as winners of the up to Year 6 category and to St Hugh’s, Faringdon, as winners of the up to Year 8. The King’s School, Witney secured the runners-up spot in each.

The competition also included Kingham Primary, Bampton Primary, Kitebrook House and St John’s Priory.
