AN injunction has successfully been secured by Warwickshire County Council in preventing a website from publishing details of questions used in the Warwickshire Eleven Plus test.

Following a three day trial, Mr Justice Newey ordered that the proprietor of the website is not permitted to publish any content of the 2013, 2014 and 2015 tests for three years from the date the test paper was first used. The website's proprietor has also been ordered to pay costs incurred by Warwickshire County Council in the proceedings.

While the majority of students sit the test on the first Saturday in September, other students, such as those moving into the area, take the test later on in the year. The same test is used so that a student's performance can be compared against other children of the same age.

Warwickshire County Councillor Colin Hayfield, Portfolio Holder for Education and Learning said: “This is a really important ruling in favour of Warwickshire County Council. Not only does it confirm our testing process is reasonable and robust, it sends out a clear message that we will not allow anyone to interfere with what is such an important process for Warwickshire parents and children.”

Councillor Bob Hicks, Chair of the county council’s Children and Young People’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee added: “We need to be able to protect the integrity of the testing process so I’m pleased that the court has issued this injunction to prevent information about the test being published.”
