FUNDRAISERS in Shipston are using their loaf and rising to the challenge to surpass last year's Comic Relief Bread Nose Day baking marathon total.

A marquee will be in the main square on Friday March 13 where it is expected to be packed with folk of all ages taking part in bread making lessons. Their efforts will be accompanied by the televised fun of Red Nose Day on the big screen.

The bread-making event has been organised once again by Shipston Food Festival members who will be slaving over hot ovens through the night and presenting their finished products for sale on Saturday from the marquee.

Organiser Dan Scobie said: “In 2013 we raised over £600 for Red Nose Day and this year we hope to do a lot better.”

The team is calling on residents of the town to lend a hand in the marathon from helping to set the marquee up beforehand to getting involved on the day with taking turns to knead dough or selling the finished oven-fresh goodies the following morning.

No experience is required; just a lot of energy and sense of fun.

Anyone able to get involved, even just for a short time, can contact Mr Scobie at dan@danscobie.net 07771 772511 or Shipston mayor Philip Vial ppjvial@gmail.com 07814 192161.
