A DEDICATED group of business-minded volunteers who recently won praise from the Prime Minister is looking for like-minded support to help secure a town's future.

Experience Chipping Norton is on the hunt for local ambassadors willing to offer their time and expertise to help an ambitious and exciting town project find its feet.

The group, which links Chipping Norton’s traders, community groups, charities, residents and visitors to the town, hosted a visit from David Cameron last month.

Mr Cameron has a home in Chipping Norton and made a rallying call to businesses and locals to encourage the town to prosper.

Several volunteers who have businesses in the town already contribute to Experience Chipping Norton but more are needed to keep up momentum.

Spokesman Shaun Fagan said: "Following a great start, the team at ECN needs volunteers with skills and experience in particular in event and meeting organisation, marketing, communication, project management and administrative support.

“We want to see businesses and residents coming together to support this venture, which in turn will support them through a bold website packed with news and information; skilful use of social media reaching into every branch of modern life; innovative networking and educational opportunities for business owners; and a central body linking young and old, business and charity, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit groups, festival organisers and festival goers.”

Mr Fagan said the website will be the "place to go" for anyone wanting information about local businesses and events.

"It all starts with business," he said. "Celebrating the biggest single turnout of business people he had ever seen in Chipping Norton, Mr Cameron spoke on a very personal level to those who packed the town hall at our civic event last month."

Mr Cameron said he was impressed with the work the group had done and made a "call to arms" for everyone to get behind it.

"In Experience Chipping Norton you have a great idea to bring businesses together, to promote the town's shops and promote what Chipping Norton has to offer, "Mr Cameron said.

"We all know that Chipping Norton has far more potential. If everyone helped this could be the start of something really big."

Anyone wanting more information about Experience Chipping Norton can visit the group's website which also has a video of Mr Cameron's visit.
