POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly man was threatened with a plastic gun during a burglary near Moreton-in-Marsh.

The incident happened at a house on Station Road in Blockley at around 12.45pm on Wednesday Nov. 19.

The offender has rung the door bell and after the victim has answered the door, the offender has forced himself into the house by threatening the victim with a weapon, which turned out to be a plastic gun. The victim challenged the offender and the offender has then run away from the house towards the cemetery.

The victim was uninjured and nothing was taken in the incident.

Police Sergeant Richard Payne said “Firstly I’d like to reassure the people of Moreton-in-Marsh and the surrounding area that we understand that any potentially violent crime, even if the weapon turns out to be fake, is concerning to the community and that our officers are fully investigating this incident. However, crimes of this nature are very rare and the community should not be unduly concerned.

“If you do have any concerns, you would like to speak to an officer or you may have information that could help this investigation, I would urge you to call 101”

The offender is described as male, around 6ft tall and of broad build.
