FUNDS raised from the Broadway Arts Festival will be helping three aspiring artists with their studies.

The Broadway Arts Festival Trust, which organises the biennial arts festival, had a surplus of funds and decided to offer grants to arts students in the local area.

Students living in the parish of Broadway with a WR12 postcode applied for the grants and three young people were given money towards their further education.

The recipients of the £500 grants were 19-year-old Beatrix Dooey, Jordan Betley, 21, and Chloe Williams, 20.

Miss Dooey, who is at the University of Birmingham studying Drama and Theatre Arts said she would be using the money to help her attend live performances.

"For my course I have to see a lot of live theatre and obviously it's expensive. So I will put the money towards that. I also have to have a lot of probs, so the grant is really good."

Mr Betley is at Bristol UWE as a final year student studying for a degree in Graphic Design.

He said he would be using the money for printing costs. "It really means the world to me," he said.

And Loughborough University textile innovation and design student Miss Williams, who also received the grant last year, said it was a "huge help".
