IT WAS a soft - if incredibly smelly - landing for a motorcyclist who drove into a spilt load of slurry.

The motorcyclist had tried to stop his bike but unfortunately ended up riding into the pile of slurry on Stratford Road, in Newbold-on-Stour, Warwickshire last night at 8.15pm (Monday).

His bike remained upright but the rider went over the handlebars and landed on the pile which had spilled near to the war memorial.

The motorcyclist escaped serious injury but the tractor driver had a minor laceration to his head and was taken to hospital after complaining of neck and back pain.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a tractor which had been pulling a trailer of slurry had overturned.

"The tractor was on its roof and the trailer was on its side with the contents over the road.

“The crews were told that the rider of the motorbike had tried to stop but ended up riding into the slurry.

"His bike was still upright but he had apparently gone over the handlebars into the slurry.

“The tractor driver had to be helped free by ambulance staff and firefighters.

"The 30 year old man had a minor head laceration but was also complaining of neck and back pain.

"As a precaution he was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being taken by ambulance to Warwick Hospital.

“The motorcyclist, who was estimated to be in his 30s was uninjured."

Fortunately, after his bike was pulled free, it was hosed down by fire crews and then he rode it home to clean himself up.
