OVER 20 firefighters spent about two hours tackling a large 20 acre blaze on top of Sudeley Hill.

One pump from Winchcombe station was initially called to the fire at just before 9.30pm on Sunday but quickly requested back up due to the scale of the blaze.

About 20 acres of stubble from cut crops was burning and over twenty firefighters used hose reel and beaters on the flames.

Firefighters spent about two hours getting the blaze under control.

Also at the scene of the fire were three pumps from Cheltenham East, Cheltenham West and Gloucester North stations.

A water carrier was also mobilised from Cheltenham East fire station.
