IT is the final countdown for the Brailes Village Show which is set to offer plenty of family entertainment.

The annual event near Shipston is on Saturday, August 9 and will include a full day of competitions, stalls, sideshows and entertainment.

Steeped in tradition, the Brailes Village Show has taken place every year in the village since 1947 and this year’s event will be based around a Mardi Gras theme.

The afternoon's entertainment will start with a Mardi Gras wheelbarrow parade and children’s fancy dress competition while in the main ring, there will be a steel band, vintage tractors, an owl display, a pony display and the first ever Brailes Balloon release.

There is also the traditional Flower, Vegetable and Craft competition which opens to the public at 1.30pm, Dog Show at 1.30pm and the all-day Horse Show which starts at 9.30am.

Visitors can also browse a number of stalls with the event culminating with a big party hosted by Shipston Young Farmers from 7.30pm.

Admission is £3.50 or £8 for a family.

Profits from the show will go towards supporting next year's event, the upkeep of the village hall and playing fields and donations to local village causes and clubs.
