THE opening dates have been confirmed for new multi-million pound leisure facility in Long Marston.

Meon Vale Leisure Centre will open its doors for the first time at 9am on Monday and members of the public are invited to try out the new facilities which include cutting edge gym equipment, a multi-purpose sports hall, the latest workout classes, tailored training and an all-weather sports pitch.

The official launch event is on August 16 between noon and 4pm will be a free day of fun and activities for all ages including special guests, a five a side football tournament, sports demonstrations, a display from Stratford-upon-Avon fire station, bouncy castle and tug of war, with all proceeds donated to The Shakespeare Hospice.

Four experienced members of staff have been appointed to help leisure centre manager James Freeman run the centre.

“We are really excited to announce our opening dates and look forward to unveiling these amazing new facilities to members of the public," said Mr Freeman.

“We have timed the opening to coincide with the summer holidays as we can provide the whole family with a range of activities to keep boredom at bay, including a summer school enabling children to try out activities ranging from dodgeball and cricket to athletics and hockey.

“Our aim is to not only offer people of all ages high quality and affordable sports and leisure facilities, but to also play a role in the wider community. We are quickly establishing relationships with a range of organisations and charities which will benefit from our facilities, and encourage more groups to get in touch.”

Membership of Meon Vale Gym will cost £25 per month.

Meon Vale is the transformation of a 470 acre former Ministry of Defence site into a new Warwickshire community.

Along with the leisure centre, St. Modwen is also delivering a number of other important facilities as part of the first phase of development there including a camping and caravan site, 18 apartments, a village hall, convenience store and 284 homes in partnership with Persimmon Homes.
