FREE taster sessions are being offered to help launch a new project to increase sports opportunities for young people who have a disability or behavioural difficulty.

West Oxfordshire District Council's Inclusive Sports Opportunities (ISO) project is hosting the sessions for 14 to 25-year-olds with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) to have a go at a variety of sports from basketball, dance and football to tag rugby, boccia and climbing.

The project team also want to take the opportunity to speak to people, find out what is already available locally and which other activities they would like to see introduced.

Sessions will run at locations around the district including Chipping Norton School on Wednesday, July 30 from 11am to noon and 1pm to 3pm.

These sessions are running as part of a free Play and Activity Day for young people in West Oxfordshire.

ISO was set up after the council was awarded a £70,000 Lottery grant from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund in recognition of its work towards making sport more accessible.

The three-year project will see the development of inclusive sports and expansion of existing activities, as well as work with local clubs to help them to become more inclusive.
