BLOCKLEY church will be filled with wedding dresses as part of a special event to mark the 90th anniversary of the villages' WI.

Most of the dresses on display on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 have been worn in Blockley church dating from Brenda Galt's 1937 dress to one worn by Lizzie Greenstock last year.

The dresses are on loan from village clubs and societies with every decade represented from the 1930s to 2013.

There will also be a children's corner with contributions from Blockley Toddlers, nursery and primary schools.

'Wedding Belles' coincides with the church's Patronal festival and a visit from the Bishop of Gloucester who is attending Evensong on the Sunday.

Sheila Weir, WI president, said they were looking forward to it.

"I think it will bring a lot of people together and bring out stories of weddings gone by," she said. "We hope to fill the church with wedding dresses and flowers. It should be good."

On the Saturday there will be a four choirs concert at 3pm hosted by Blockley Ladies Choir with guest choirs Blockley Blokes, the Church, and Gloriana.

Tickets are £5 and are available at Blockley Shop or on the door.
