THE founder of Gifford Circus is signing copies of her new book in Chipping Norton.
Nell Gifford will be at Jaffe and Neale Bookshop & Cafe, in Middle Row, signing copies of her new book, Giffords Circus: The First Ten Years from 11am to noon tomorrow (Friday).
The author read English at Oxford University before running away to join the circus.
She sold popcorn at the Chinese State Circus and was a ring-mistress at Santus Circus in France, before starting Giffords Circus with her husband, Toti, in 2000.
The book is an account of the first 10 years of Giffords Circus and is the first to go behind the scenes of the not-so-big top, revealing how the magic and mystery of this very English spectacle are created.
The famous family-run vintage circus is currently touring The Cotswolds and the South West with their all-new show The Thunders and will be at Daysford Farm, Kingham, from today (Thursday) until Monday.
