A VALE primary school pupil has won a competition to name a new David Wilson Homes housing development in Offenham.

Nine-year-old Isobel Wright, who attends Offenham First School, was inspired by the conkers she used to collect in the park when she and her family lived in the village.

She beat a host of class mates with her first class entry, Chestnut Grange, and has won gift vouchers while her school is to benefit from book tokens.

“It’s really exciting to have my idea chosen for the development," she said. "I can’t wait to see the signs go up.”

Her mum Sue added: “We’re really pleased for Isobel that her name was selected. Offenham is a lovely village and it still feels like home, so it’s nice that we will have a lasting connection.”

Chestnut Grange will provide a mix of luxury two, three, four and five bedroom homes and is expected to open later in the year.

In the meantime, for more information people can visit David Wilson Homes’ The Larches development on nearby Main Street, Offenham, which features a range of four bedroom properties.

Denise Oates, Head Teacher at Offenham Primary School, added: “It’s great that the community has been able to have a hand in the naming of the new development.”
