STOW Poppy Appeal is taking part in the national Centenary Poppy Campaign which aims to cover the UK with the red flowers.
The #PlantAPoppy event is launching on Saturday from noon to 4pm at The Green, at the Tesco store in the town and children and families are invited to plant a poppy for a £1 suggested donation.
Poppies are being planted on the Green at Tesco because it is in the direction of the sunset and in-keeping with the 'Ode to Remembrance'.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them".
