VOTERS will be heading to the polls on Thursday to deliver their verdict on West Oxfordshire District Council.

This year's elections coincide with the European and 17 town and parish councils with Chipping Norton being the only one with a vacancy contested.

All 17 district council seats are contested with10 currently serving councillors seeking re-election.

One of Chipping Norton's three seats is up for election, which was previously held by Annie Roy-Barker who switched her alliance from Conservative to Independent last year.

Voting will take place from 7am to 10pm in nearly 100 polling stations across the district including the Town Hall in Chipping Norton.

The district council has a large conservative majority with 37 Conservatives, four Labour, four Liberal Democrats and two Independents.

Conservative candidate Guy Wall is married to Joanna and they have two children, Oskar, four, and Natalia, two and the family live at Parker Knoll in Chipping Norton.

Guy runs his own business based in the Town Centre and is a governor of the Ace Centre.

Guy is passionate about the needs of Chipping Norton and its residents and will fight rigorously to keep amenities in the town including health provision and children & young family facilities.

Guy helps to keep the town clear in bad weather by part funding quad bikes with the Town Council and supplying a four wheel drive forklift with snow plough.

With your support he is seeking the opportunity to use his considerable energies on behalf of the town and its residents and is readily available to listen to and represent local views.

Labour candidate Laetisia Carter grew up in north Oxfordshire and Chipping Norton was always part of her childhood, being a cast member in one of the theatre’s famous pantomimes.

Her family have now made their home in Chippy and her son goes to a local nursery.

Laetisia is a keen supporter of the Lido where she attends synchronised swimming classes.

She works as a NHS Project Manager, and recently was a key part of the team which fought to save the Ace Centre, coordinating the media campaign, gathering petition signatures and lobbying David Cameron. She will fight hard to protect and enhance our services.

She said: “I am proud to be part of such a vibrant and supportive community, something that makes Chippy special and why I feel so passionately about the town”.

UKIP candidate James Stanley says: "The Cotswold Journal has a circulation over one of the most scenic areas of Southern England, if elected I will fight for our town to remain the jewel in this crown.

"The plans have been drawn up to blight Chipping Norton with 1000 extra homes but we are over-congested with HGVs etc already and there’s no plan for a ring road to ease this problem.

"Our ACE centre is under threat. Where will our early learners and those of these new homes be educated? I could go on, tell me your concerns and if elected I will try and resolve them.

"This is not Party Political, it is common sense. I look forward to your support on 22nd May. I can be contacted at UKIP.ChippingNorton@gmail.com, or 07770163897 to answer any questions."
