BOURTON Parish Council has launched a petition to drum up support for its application to protect an area in the village.
Members voted in their March meeting to designate Manor Fields as a Local Green Space within the local plan.
Councillors are keen to protect the area which they have previously described as being "peaceful".
Speaking at last week's meeting, Chairman Bryan Sumner said they needed to get between 350 and 500 signatures on the petition by June 9 which will be handed to Cotswold District Council.
"What we need is lots of support from locals and from outside," he said.
The petitions are available for collection in the post office, Hartwells Cotswold Cycle Hire, Bakery on the Water, the Visitor Information Centre and the pharmacy.
