BOURTON Parish Councillor Bryan Sumner is continuing in his role as chairman for an eighth year running.

Members unanimously voted for him to continue at their meeting yesterday (Wednesday) along with Councillor Tim Faulkner, who will be vice-chairman for a second year.

The council is also looking for a new co-opted member to join its ranks after no requests were made for a poll.

Applications for new councillors will be considered until Friday, May 16 and prospective candidates will meet existing members at the council offices on Monday, May 19.

Members also discussed whether they could increase their current number of 11 to 12 to help with their increasing workload.

Councillor Julian Stocker said: "We've got a huge amount on with the community centre. I think we could do with another one if possible."

Clerk Sue Cretney said she would take the matter up with Cotswold District Council.
