ONE of Britain's leading classical actors has stepped in at the last moment to read the poems of Wilfred Owen at the Chipping Campden Literature Festival.

The six-day festival which kicks off on Tuesday, runs until Sunday and celebrates the joy of reading, the art of writing, the beauty of books and the sharing of ideas and this year explores a War and Peace theme.

Anton Lesser, who has worked extensively at the National Theatre and is an associate artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company, will be giving the poetry reading at the Festival on Saturday at 7pm in Chipping Campden School Hall.

The event is part of the event ‘Wilfred Owen and Owen Sheers’.

Also on the bill is author Tim Butcher, who is presenting his new book, The Trigger, at 10amon Saturday.

His book, published on May 1, explores on how a 19-year-old changed the world in 1914 when he assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
