A MAN has been jailed for 14 weeks for committing a burglary near Chipping Norton.
Rikki Newby, aged 30, of North Street, Crewkerne, Somerset, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary when he appeared at Banbury Magistrates Court last Thursday.
The court heard he committed the burglary at Lower Buildings, in Sarsden, at about 4.50am on Wednesday, April 23.
During the incident, Newby forced entry to the building by jemmying a door, before stealing a number of tools.
Investigating officer, PC Claire Sadler of local CID in Witney, said: “I am glad that Newby admitted this offence and was sentenced accordingly.
"Burglary can often leave the victim anxious and out of pocket, and that is why Thames Valley take such offences extremely seriously.
“Police believe that Newby may have been assisted by another offender, therefore we would appeal to anyone with any information about the offence to contact PC Steven Bates via 101."
