SUDELEY Castles in Winchcombe is going back in time to celebrate May Day with a special event for the bank holiday weekend.

The popular attraction will be alive with colour and dancing as part of a Victorian May Day on Monday, May 5 with Morris dancing, May Pole dancing, food and music.

There will be a Penny Farthing act, Punch and Judy show, Chimney Sweep, organ grinder and Victorian Fairground ride.

And visitors who want to find out more about the castle during the 19th century can enjoy an historic talk on the Victorian owner of the castle, Emma Dent.

The events are being held from 10am to 4pm and are included in the admission price.

For the 2014 season, the castle has opened even more of the family’s private rooms, some of which have never been open to the public before, including the Major’s Dressing Room, the Morning Room, the Sewing Room, and the Haunted Staircase, as well as private bedrooms.
