PEOPLE can find out more about Blockley's Curious Clerics at the next Blockley Heritage Society event.
The village has had more than its fair share of unusual and eccentric clergy including a quarrel between the vicar and the village constable in 1642 who afterwards lay in wait to pull him from his horse into a ditch.
President Jeremy Bourne will be revealing more with a talk on Monday at 7.45pm in the Heritage Centre.
Next month, Mr Bourne will be directing and reading his new play about the Blockley prophetess, Joanna Southcott, in a project initiated by the Heritage Society to mark the 200th anniversary of her death.
She is believed to have spent the later years of her life living at Rock Cottage, in Blockley, and married the property’s owner John Smith shortly before her death in 1814.

Heritage Society in collaboration with Blockley Amateur Dramatic Company (BAD Company) in the Blockley Heritage Centre on Monday, May 26.
A priority booking period for society members closes on Friday, May 2 and any remaining tickets will be available at Blockley Village Shop & Café from Monday, May 5 costing £5.
Archaeologist Chiz Harwood is also giving an illustrated talk on Monday, May 19 about the Iron Age Man discovered recently on the site adjoining the Horse and Groom pub, in Bourton-on-the-Hill.
