THOUSANDS of pounds was raised by determined cyclists who rode for 24 hours at a Cotswold spinathon event.
The event took place at RapidFX Fitness Studio in Draycott and saw bikers cycle for hours at a time, with one eager fundraiser staying on the bike for the whole 24 hours, in aid of the SMA Trust, which funds research into Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
The spinathon, on Friday, March 28, raised £2,770 and was well supported by local businesses which provided snacks and even some live music over the 24 hours.
Personal trainer Dominic Whitecross was the man who stayed on the bike for 24 hours, while another trainer, Lorraine Clayton, cycled for 12 hours even running some spin classes along the way.
And the Lincoln family from Blockley had a family bike and between them kept pedalling for 24 hours.
Amy Spittle, from the fitness studio, thanked everyone who contributed to the event, including Budgens Moreton in Marsh, Butty's in Chipping Campden, the Chester House Hotel, Bourton on the Water, DJ Matt Lane, the Musical Box, School of Rock and Shipston on Stour Dental Practise.
She added: "Tim Spittle, owner and master trainer, opened the event with a one hour spin class to get everyone motivated and also closed the event with a 90 minute class, which was so well attended Derek one of our regular clients had to row his was to the end as all bikes where full."
