THERE were a sea of colourful handmade bonnets in a village near Evesham as children took part in their annual Easter bonnet parade.

Children and staff from Fladbury CE First School took part in the parade on Friday and went ‘on tour’ around the village.

Their route including the Chantry to the delight of many of the older residents who enjoy the spectacle and villagers were also invited to join in.

Headteacher Julie Wilson said she loves this time of year in what is a great Fladbury tradition.

“In the morning all of the children go on an Easter egg hunt and they then sit and make the most fabulous bonnets to wear," she said. "It’s a really colourful sight and great fun. Their imagination runs riot.

"Many of the older people can’t get around so well and it is a great idea to have the parade so that they can take part in the Easter celebrations as well.

"The weather was perfect and the event brings the whole community together.”
