A DOUBLE Grand National-winning jockey has been fined £1,500 by the British Horseracing Authority after admitting bringing the sport into disrepute.
Carl Llewellyn, now an assistant trainer to Nigel Twiston-Davies, was found guilty of making comments that were "prejudicial to the good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain" at the Disciplinary Panel hearing earlier today (Thursday).
He was reported to have made a racial comment at The Hollow Bottom pub, in Guiting Power, on Monday, March 10 ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
The hearing was originally scheduled to take place last Thursday but was postponed at the request of his representation.
He could have faced a maximum three-year ban from the sport before he was given the fine.
Mr Llewellyn, from Wantage in Oxfordshire, has ridden more than 500 winners including five at Cheltenham's National Hunt Festival.
