SHE might be used to encouraging others to reach their goals, but a Moreton fitness instructor has set her own challenge to run the London Marathon.

Tracey Walton, who runs Cotswold Fitness, is running her first marathon on April 13.

She will be joined by fellow fitness instructor Clare Bayley, from Winchcombe, who teaches around Evesham, Cheltenham and Toddington.

The pair are both raising money for Evesham charity Action on Pre-eclampsia, which aims to raise awareness of pre-eclampsia — a condition that affects some women during pregnancy. They hope the funds raised will support those who suffer with it.

While Miss Walton, of Beceshore Close, is no stranger to tough physical challenges after running a half marathon and completing a 100km walk from London to Brighton, she is still training hard for the event.

“It’s going to be great fun,” she said. “I’ve had flu but I’m recovered now, so I’m back on track.

“The impact of running will take its toll and will be tough but being in London, and the crowds, will get me through.”

The 38-year-old is hoping to raise as much money as possible for the charity, and is already just £100 off her £1,700 target.

“I had a complicated pregnancy as I had twins,” she added.

“My best friend suffered with pre-eclampsia with her twins and quite a few of my clients have suffered with it as well.

“I’m trying to raise awareness; it’s such a small charity and they are so helpful.”
