A BROADWAY man is limbering up for his second London Marathon - and has been training hard to beat last year's time.
Warren Mantle, of Bibsworth Avenue, is hoping to smash last year's achievement of three hours and 26 minutes when he takes part in the event on Sunday, April 13 on behalf of St John Ambulance.
The 41-year-old stonemason has been seen around Broadway and the Vale, throughout the recent wet weather, training hard for the event and has been running, cycling, swimming and walking locally to ensure he is able to deliver a creditable time on the day.
And he has even taken part in the Tough Guy event and the Blackminster half marathon in preparation.
“I had wanted to do this race for many years but due to numerous reasons, last year was the first time I was given the opportunity," he said. "The race was amazing and is one of the best things I have ever done”.
Mr Mantle is close to raising £1,000 for the charity but needs a few more donations to reach his £1,625 target.
