A COMPETITION to guess the weight of a huge halibut has raised £260 for the Abbots Morton Bell Tower Appeal.
More than 260 people entered the week-long competition run by Bishampton fishmonger, Harry Dyke, at his parents' fish shop.
Mo and Stan Jennings, of Hillside, Flyford Flavel, won the contest after correctly guessing the five-and a-half-foot long fish weighed 77.5 lbs.
The couple won a £35 hamper donated by Hillers Farm Shop and a £40 tray of fish including two halibut steaks.
Mr Dyke, 18, said: "I'd like to thank all my customers for their tremendous support. The response to this worthy cause has been amazing and I'm already thinking of ways to raise more funds in the future".
The Grade I-listed St Peter's Church, in Abbots Morton, near Inkberrow, needs £40,000 to repair the top of the crumbling stonework on its 14th Century bell tower and so far the appeal has raised £26,058.
