A CLASSROOM in a Cotswold school was transformed into a scene from a Bollywood film for the day as youngsters learnt about India.

Children in Class 2 at Temple Guiting School donned traditional Indian costumes as part of their 'India Day' and had special Mehndi Henna tattoos drawn on their arms.

They tried traditional Indian cuisine including a Korma and Jelfrezi which they ate with their hands before trying Bollywood dancing which they will perform in assembly in a few weeks.

And to celebrate the Holi festival of colours, they did some Indian painting in the afternoon.

Class 2 teacher Emily Chester said the day was a good way for the children to learn.

"Hopefully it was a day they won't forget in a hurry," she said. "I think they got a lot out of it. I like to do that for every topic to have one set day so when they are older they will remember the day.

"I think they can really recognise how things are celebrated if they actually do it and get involved."
