MILL Dene Garden in Blockely has re-opened today (Tuesday) for the new season.

Visitors can expect to see early signs of spring with snowdrops, pink cyclamen, blue scilla and yellow daffodils along with a wide variety of wildlife.

Last summer, the cricket pavilion at Mill Dene Garden was the inspiration for an episode on ITV makeover programme Love Your Garden, presented by Alan Titchmarsh.

The programme, which shows how to turn the most unlikely outdoor spaces into life-enhancing havens, featured foster carer Kathy Mason, from Winchcombe, who wanted a summer house to relax in.

Wendy Dare, who owns the garden with her husband Barry, said: "The ducks are mating on the mill-pond the robins are defending their territory very noisily.

"The toads are waking up and showing their babies from last year the garden."

The garden, which also serves cream teas and cake, is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays up until October.
